MARGATE, Fla. — A search for a missing man in Margate ended tragically after his family found his body in a body of water along Banks Road on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

When Local 10 News arrived at the scene, family members and friends were gathered near the water.

Relatives identified the man as Lucas Hobandy Carmelo-Rios.

They said he walked away from a party around 11 p.m. Saturday and was last seen near the water. Concerned he may have fallen in, the family contacted Margate police.

Family members continued searching on their own and entered the water on Sunday, where they made the discovery, they said.

Authorities have not released details about how Carmelo-Rios died. The investigation remains ongoing.
