HIALEAH, Fla. — A woman was arrested Thursday, weeks after Hialeah police said she stole multiple packages from the front porch of a home.
According to her arrest report, Thalia Fernandez, 24, of Hialeah, was captured on surveillance video on the afternoon of Dec. 16 parking her car in the driveway of the victim’s home on East 43rd Street, opening the front gate of the home and entering the porch area.
Police said she was then seen taking four packages from outside the home, with items inside worth a total of nearly $500.
The victim told police that he was in his backyard when the packages were stolen.
He said he realized the packages had been taken when his son returned home less than an hour later.
Police said a “need to ID” flyer was distributed to officers via email and Fernandez was located Thursday and taken into custody.
She faces a charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling.
As of Friday morning, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond.
