FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — University of Miami defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald was robbed by armed suspects early Saturday morning in Florida City, police said.

Fitzgerald was attending a party at an Airbnb when suspects armed with rifles entered the home and robbed him around 3 a.m., according to Florida City police.

“We just heard a big, long bang,” said a neighbor who asked not to be identified. “We don’t know if there was anyone injured or something, which is why we were really worried, because this is the first time that happened around here.”

Police said the suspects stole jewelry from the college football player. No injuries were reported, and the investigation is ongoing.

Fitzgerald and his Hurricanes teammates will face Indiana in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Jan. 19 at Hard Rock Stadium.
