CUTLER BAY, Fla. — A man was arrested Monday in connection with a road rage shooting that occurred Sunday night in Cutler Bay, authorities said.
Cristopher Portillo, 37, of Cutler Bay, was arrested early Monday morning on a charge of shooting or throwing a deadly missile.
According to his arrest report, the shooting was reported just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Southwest 184th Street and 114th Court.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies said they arrived at the scene and found a bullet hole in the back windshield of the victim’s vehicle, “a projectile penetrated inside the driver side headrest, and a spent casing on the roadway.”
According to the arrest report, the victim told deputies that he was driving east on 184th Street when Portillo, who was driving a white Ford F-150 pickup truck, began flashing his lights at him and attempted to pass his vehicle.
Deputies said Portillo then slowed down and fired one round into the victim’s vehicle, with the bullet going through the rear windshield and striking the back of the driver’s headrest.
A statement made by Portillo to deputies who responded to his home after the shooting was redacted from the publicly released report.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office was contacted and Portillo was arrested.
Once at the Hammocks District Station, Portillo invoked his right to remain silent, the report stated.
As of Monday afternoon, Portillo was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $7,500 bond.
