FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — Two people were arrested Monday in connection with a fatal home invasion robbery in Florida City that was partially live-streamed on Facebook last month, authorities said.
According to arrest reports from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the home invasion was reported early in the morning on Dec. 30 at a home in the 1400 block of Northwest Second Ave.
Deputies said two victims were inside the home when the suspects, Christopher Hankerson, 36, and Roderick Terrell Everett, 34, both of Miami, entered the home while wearing masks and armed with a gun.
According to the arrest reports, the suspects demanded money from the victims before one of the suspects shot both victims.
One victim died and the other was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, deputies confirmed.
Authorities said both victims were live-streaming on Facebook during part of the home invasion.
Detectives said they also obtained surveillance video from the area which shows the suspects arriving at the home in a blue Honda Accord.
According to the arrest reports, both suspects then returned to their home on bicycles that were stolen from the scene.
Deputies said a search warrant was executed at Hankerson and Everett’s home last Wednesday where they found both stolen bikes.
Detectives said Hankerson admitted to knowing the victims and being with Everett on the night of the home invasion, but denied being at the scene of the murder.
Both suspects were arrested on charges of first-degree murder/home invasion robbery, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Hankerson was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center while Everett was being held at the Metrowest Detention Center. Online jail records listed their bonds as “to be set.”
