New video shows different angle of fiery gas station crash in Hialeah

Video shows moments car crashed into Hialeah gas station

HIALEAH, Fla. — Newly obtained video shows the moment a car slams into a gas pump and bursts into flames.

With the video slowed down, you can also see the car hit a column, causing the canopy hanging over the pumps to collapse.

The new angles shed light on the fiery, crash that created chaos in a Hialeah neighborhood.

It happened late Friday night at the U-Gas located along the 900 block of East 49th Street.

“My mom was screaming,” said witness Melanie Dib. “Everybody in my family was like oh, there something going on. When I come outside, (I saw) fire (and) the car is turned (over).”

According to Hialeah police, the 32-year-old driver told officers an unknown vehicle cut him off, forcing him to swerve right.

Video shows his vehicle barreling into the parking lot at full-force, and then another car drives through the frame.

Shortly after the crash, neighbors say the driver made it out of fiery car.

“The neighbors from that house were trying to get the guy out of the car, they got him out,” said Dib.

Tuesday afternoon, a team of workers were on site to repair the damaged canopy and gas pump.

The station remains closed and fenced off as work to get the business back open continues.

Police said the driver was released from the hospital the night of the crash and that no arrests will be made.
