MIAMI — Some of Miami’s young, talented musicians will take center stage at the 49th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade in Miami.
Monday’s parade along Northwest 54th Street will feature a strong lineup of marching bands representing elementary, middle and high schools from across the city.
Among the featured groups is the Sounds of Success Band, led by Director Antoine K. Miller.
West Little River Elementary School will showcase its young musicians under the direction of Runiya Brown, while North Miami Middle School’s band, directed by Latoya Harris-Alexandre, will represent the next generation of performers.
Several well-known high school marching bands are also scheduled to perform, including American Senior High School under Director Garlande Henry and Booker T. Washington High School, led by Director Ahmad Newbold. Miami Edison Senior High School’s band, directed by Wilfred Barry, and Miami Central Senior High School’s band, under the leadership of Kermit Virgil, will also take part in the celebration.
Rounding out the lineup is Miami Northwestern Senior High School’s marching band, directed by Joshua Watson, bringing additional energy and tradition to the parade.
The parade kicks off at 11 a.m., drawing thousands of spectators for one of South Florida’s most anticipated Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebrations.
