‘He was very sloppy’: Video shows suspect trying to break into Miramar smoke shop

Suspect caught on camera trying to break into Miramar smoke shop

MIRAMAR, Fla. — Surveillance video captured the moment a man tried to smash his way into a Miramar smoke shop.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Forever Smoke Shop located on South Palm Avenue.

Video shows the suspect viciously slamming a brick into the back window of the shop, repeatedly striking the glass.

Store manager Travon Killings said when the brick didn’t work, the suspect grabbed a hammer, pounding relentlessly at the impact-resistant glass.

“We put a lot of money and effort into this shop, just for a little clown to come over and try to take that from us is insane,” said Killings. “It was very sloppy, it was probably like his first burglary or something. He was goofy with it.”

It’s not the first time someone has targeted the smoke shop.

In 2024, a crook was caught on camera vandalizing the business twice in one night.

“This place is dedicated to my late brother, who passed away in 2021,” said Killings. “Just seeing an incident happen like that again is just crazy man.”

Detectives are working to identify the suspect.

The suspect was covering his face, but employees said it’s possible he left key evidence behind.

“He was very sloppy with it,” said Killings. “He had gloves, but then the gloves didn’t have a finger print part.”

Killings said he has no idea who would target the store or why.

“It was hard to see and hard to hear because my family, we worked hard to get this place,” he said.
