PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A man was arraigned on a digital voyeurism charge Tuesday, a month after he was arrested on accusations that he had filmed under a girl’s dress with his phone at a church in Pembroke Pines.
According to an arrest report from the Pembroke Pines Police Department, Daniel James Ducanis, 21, of Davie, was arrested Dec. 10, 2025, after the alleged incident at the Boulevard Bible Chapel located at 6800 Pines Blvd.
Police said the incident occurred Nov. 23 and was witnessed by an adult and a juvenile.
According to the report, the juvenile witness told police that she was talking with a group of friends, including the victim, when she saw Ducanis passing behind the victim.
“As he passed by, I noticed out of the corner of my eye (that) he had his phone under her skirt,” the witness said, according to the report.
The witness said she believed Ducanis recorded under the victim’s dress three times and told detectives that the victim noticed that the phone was recording during at least one incident.
According to the report, the witness and the victim told the victim’s brother what had occurred and he confronted Ducanis, who denied recording the victim.
Police said the victim’s brother told detectives that prior to his sister and her friend notifying him about what occurred, he had been speaking with Ducanis and noticed that Ducanis’ phone was on the video setting.
He said he then saw Ducanis looking at a video on his phone that appeared to have been recorded in church as he could see the church floor in the video.
According to the report, Ducanis’ cellphone was seized by police on Dec. 5 after a search warrant was obtained, however an immediate search of his phone revealed no evidence.
Police said Ducanis emailed a detective later that day, however, and said he wished to amend his statement, admitting to filming the victim, but claiming to have deleted all of the videos.
Police said he claimed that he did not send or transmit any videos or photos of the victim to anyone.
According to the report, Ducanis was arrested Dec. 10 after responding to the police station to speak with a detective in person and in hopes of possibly retrieving his phone.
Ducanis is currently out on bond as he awaits trial.
