PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — Former UFC fighter Jairzinho Rozenstruik was arrested earlier this week on domestic violence charges in South Florida, Local 10 learned Thursday.

According to an arrest report from the Pembroke Pines Police Department, the incident occurred Monday and involved Rozenstruik’s wife, who he shares two children with.

Police said officers met with Rozenstruik, who initially made “vague allegations” about his wife pushing him and then became uncooperative, telling officers “they figured it out” and didn’t need law enforcement.

According to the report, Rozenstruik later claimed that he and his wife got into an argument and she pushed him lightly with one arm. He claimed that he did not touch her back, authorities said.

According to the report, the victim, who had left the scene, eventually returned to her apartment building where officers were speaking with her husband and told officers that the two had gotten into an argument while they were driving from their storage unit. She said at one point, she ignored Rozenstruik, which led to him slapping her hand, causing her cellphone to fall to the car floor.

The woman said she continued to ignore her husband, and he slapped her hand once more, authorities said.

Police said the couple then arrived at a Bank of America and the woman tried to exit their vehicle, at which time Rozenstruik grabbed her by the arm to prevent her from leaving the car.

According to the report, after continuing to argue in the car, Rozenstruik tried to kiss his wife, but she declined the kiss and told him he was a “nasty beast.”

Police said the comment angered Rozenstruik and he bit his wife on her right bicep.

According to the report, the couple eventually ended up at the Club Fit Plaza, located at Palm Avenue and Pines Boulevard, where Rozenstruik allegedly prevented his wife from leaving the car again.

Police said after grabbing her arm to prevent her from leaving, the victim punched Rozenstruik in the face in self-defense and exited the vehicle.

According to the report, the victim had a visible bite mark on her right bicep, redness on both of her forearms and a red scratch/bruise mark under her right eye.

Police said Rozenstruik later told officers that his wife had punched him in the face multiple times and believed she did so because he was “aggressively getting in her face during the argument.”

Rozenstruik was arrested on charges of battery and kidnapping/false imprisonment.

As of Thursday morning, the Surinamese-national was being held at the Broward County Main Jail on an immigration hold.

Rozenstruik formerly competed in the Heavyweight division of the UFC and is the current Dirty Boxing Heavyweight champion.
