MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Gardens police fatally shot a 33-year-old man after officers responded to a call involving a person in crisis at a home, authorities said.
Officers were sent to the residence after receiving reports of a person experiencing a crisis.
When police arrived, the man was armed and was believed to be attempting to harm another person at the property, Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt said during a news conference.
The chief said officers were forced to open fire. One or two officers fired their weapons, striking the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firearms were recovered at the location, police said.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
