Officials said street counterflow operations and closures will affect Biscayne Boulevard and surrounding roadways throughout the weekend.

Here are some of the street closures and counterflows that you will need to look out for:

Beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Biscayne Boulevard between Southeast Second Street and Northeast Second Street will shift to a counterflow pattern, with the northbound lanes closed.

Traffic entering Biscayne Boulevard at Chopin Plaza will be rerouted to the southbound lanes from Southeast First Street to Northeast Second Street, where traffic will return to its normal pattern. Southbound traffic on Biscayne Boulevard will remain open.

Additional closures will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday when all northbound traffic entering Biscayne Boulevard at Chopin Plaza will be rerouted westbound on Southeast Second Street.

Southbound traffic will be detoured at Northeast First Street and may continue south on Southeast Second Avenue. Biscayne Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic between Southeast First Street and Northeast First Street.

At 10 p.m. Saturday, Biscayne Boulevard between Northeast Sixth Street and Northeast Ninth Street will close. All northbound traffic at Northeast Sixth Street will be rerouted westbound on Northeast Sixth Street, while southbound traffic on Biscayne Boulevard will remain open. Port Boulevard will remain open eastbound on Northeast Fifth Street and westbound on Northeast Sixth Street.

Starting at 2 a.m. Sunday, Biscayne Boulevard between Northeast Sixth Street and Northeast 13th Street will close. Southbound traffic at Northeast 13th Street will be rerouted westbound on Northeast 13th Street, and all northbound traffic on Biscayne Boulevard and traffic from the Port of Miami will be rerouted westbound on Northeast Sixth Street.

Citywide road closures will begin at 5 a.m. Sunday and are expected to reopen around 2 p.m. All closures will reopen at that time except for the Biscayne Boulevard counterflow, which is expected to reopen around 5 p.m.

Officials are urging motorists to seek alternate routes if traveling in the area.

They said city of Miami police officers and outside agency personnel will be stationed along closure points to assist drivers.
