FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The investigation into the death of a 35-year-old man in Broward County continued on Monday, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Jonathan Scibica, a boxer at Level Up Boxing and Fitness, vanished after leaving the Cheers Restaurant and Bar, at 941 E Cypress Creek Road, at about 4 a.m. on Friday in his gray Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, according to police.

“He was one of the most loving, genuine, fun-loving spirited people you could ever meet. His smile would light up a room,” Johnny Farace said.

Beloved boxer's death prompts grief in Broward

James Adelizzi, who lives at the Cypress Creek Mobile Home Park at 901 NE 62 St., in Fort Lauderdale, said he helped to solve a part of the mystery.

“All I saw was headlights shining across the lagoon,” Adelizzi said about his finding on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, Adelizzi said he noticed a gate was damaged.

“Someone had driven through it, knocked it off the hinges, and into the water,” Adelizzi said.

Police: Investigation into 35-year-old man found dead in Broward continues

Broward Sheriff’s Office divers found Scibica dead in his gray Honda Ridgeline pickup truck, underwater, according to police.

Scibica’s friends said he did not live in the mobile home park, or why he was in the area. The Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office was performing the autopsy.
