DAVIE, Fla. — A shooting at a beauty school in Davie left a person hospitalized Tuesday afternoon.
It happened just after 2 p.m. at the Aveda Institute, located at 4186 S. University Dr., just north of Griffin Road.
Police said the victim, whose age, gender, and identity weren’t immediately released, was rushed to a nearby hospital. They did not provide an update on his or her condition.
Authorities said there is no active threat at this time and urged the public to avoid the area.
The reported shooting occurred near two schools.
Knit-T-All Preparatory School, a private school and tutoring center, is located next door to the Aveda Institute. St. David Catholic Church and School is located just north of the beauty school.
Sky 10 flew over the scene, where Davie police officers were placing crime scene tape and walking in the area.
No other details about the shooting were immediately released.
