MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities have released new video from a deadly police shooting that occurred in Miami-Dade County.

The shootout happened in April of 2025 in the parking lot of an Extended Stay America in northwest Miami-Dade.

Detectives said they tried to arrest Luis Montero-Mercado as he was walking to his car along Seventh Street near 65th Avenue, but in the process, shots rang out.

Montero-Mercado was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies said Montero-Mercado shot and killed two people at a food truck along Northwest 30th Street earlier that day.

A third person was also injured in the shooting.
