NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Jahaida Diaz earns part of her living driving Uber.
Due to what police said was a recent burglary attempt that occurred on Friday in broad daylight, her car door handle and lock were badly damaged.
She now has to get into her car through the passenger door.
“I thought someone crashed into me and my husband said no, someone was trying to break into your car,” she said.
North Miami Beach police say they are currently investigating a burglary to a vehicle where the male subject was accompanied by possible juveniles.
“I couldn’t believe it was young kids,” Diaz said of when she first saw the surveillance video.
Police are asking the community for help in identifying the subjects in the video, adding that it appears an adult is perpetrating these acts with kids watching.
They want to identify and speak with that man to get to the bottom of what is shown in the video.
“He was working on my car for four or five minutes,” Diaz said. “There were kids there, this was their property is the way they were acting.”
Anyone with information or who thinks they recognize the people in the video are urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
