MIRAMAR, Fla. — Police in Miramar are searching for a man caught on camera stealing packages from outside a home.
They were taken from the home of Marc and Sandra Schlesinger.
“He looked right into the camera,” said Marc Schlesinger. “He was wearing a mask, but you could see everything up to here.”
The brazen theft happened on Jan. 14 just before 6 a.m. off Bermuda Drive near South Douglas Road.
In the video, you see the crook walk up to the front door, stack some of the boxes on top of each other, walk back to his white Volkswagen and take off with the items.
“He just took what he wanted and left,” said Marc Schlesinger.
The 67-year-old who is wheelchair bound believes he and his wife were targeted.
“While obviously I’ve had a lot of stuff happen in my life, business owner, this, medical issues, I just said this is another day,” Marc Schlesinger said.
Both husband and wife were inside sleeping when the crook looted their property.
“A lot of those boxes were too heavy for my wife, our neighbors help us bring it in the garage,” said Marc Schlesinger. “They were just sitting out there for a day or two. We’ve never had a problem.”
Among the items taken were an order from Chewy containing pet food, yard equipment and tiles. The thief made off with about $1,000 in stolen goods.
“It’s like give me a break, go get a job,” Sandra Schlesinger said. “Do something. Why are you doing this?”
Anyone who thinks they recognize the man in the video is urged to contact Miramar police or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
