MIAMI — A convicted killer was back in a South Florida courtroom on Thursday.
Anthawn Ragan pleaded guilty to charges that could land him on death row.
The 31-year-old told a judge he was guilty of all 14 charges in his indictment, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, attempted murder and murder.
Those charges stem from an incident at a North Miami nail salon in 2013 that took the life of 10-year-old Aaron Vu.
Police said Ragan and another man stormed into the salon, demanding money from staff and customers at gunpoint. Ragan then fired off several rounds into the salon, fatally wounding the young boy and injuring his father, police said.
The murder was part of a month-long crime spree committed by Ragan that included two hold-ups at a Royal Castle and a dry cleaner, and the murder of a man at a Motel 7 for which Ragan was found guilty last year.
On Tuesday, the judge made sure Ragan understood what was at stake and accepted his guilty plea.
