According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. Saturday after Jay Jay Jackson St. Louis, of Asbury Park, New Jersey, checked in for his flight to São Paulo at the LATAM Airlines ticket counter.

Deputies said airline employees alerted Customs and Border Protection officers that St. Louis had just checked in three bags, and they were behind the counter, ready to be sent through the carousel.

Authorities said a Customs check of the bags revealed several vacuum-sealed packages, “consistent with previous seizures of marijuana.”

According to the report, after further inspection, the packages were revealed to contain a total of 37.11 kilograms -- or more than 81 pounds -- of hashish.

MDSO was then notified and deputies took St. Louis into custody.

He faces a charge of trafficking cannabis.

As of Monday afternoon, St. Louis was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”
