Colbert’s godbrother told Local 10 he might have been having some kind of mental episode.

He said Colbert was livestreaming on Instagram inside the home after barricading himself inside.

“So stop scaring me with these bums. Ya’ll got jets flying through my house, fake spiders,” Colbert said in the livestream.

Police were heard speaking to Colbert over a loudspeaker.

“I am thinking about my daughter,” Colbert tells the officers. “Alright, let me tell you something, white man. OK? Let me tell you something, white man. I am thinking about my daughter… keep me protected. I don’t got no guns, just my eye. I can prove, I don’t got nothing. If they kill me, bro, they was trying to stop me from making their movie because it was going to be the best movie ya’ll ever seen."

Police said Colbert was evaluated at an area hospital as a precaution, although no injuries were reported.

He was then transported to the Broward County Jail as he had an active warrant for written or electronic threats and resisting arrest without violence, authorities said.

Jail records show he is also facing one count of intimidation by writing or sending a threat to kill or injure.

Police confirmed that a dog was found in the home, and it was safely removed and released to a family member.

Local 10 spoke with neighbors who praised police officers for getting Colbert out safely.

“These officers, these were not 20-30 year veterans, these were young guys and they just had to (be) under control,” said Ted Palmer, who lives nearby.

Colbert’s godbrother said he’s never seen the rapper behave this way, calling it a “shock.”

He said Colbert is a father to three children and is a philanthropist.

Colbert is scheduled to face a bond court judge on Wednesday.
