WESTON, Fla. — Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection were observed in west Broward County for several hours on Thursday.
They were in the area of U.S. 27 and Recreation Road.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office, Florida Forest Service and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were also observed at the scene.
Authorities were seen appearing to search the area along the highway, with assistance coming from an overhead helicopter and drone, as well as a K-9 unit and usage of an ATV off-road utility forestry vehicle along the brush and through the adjacent field.
At one point, authorities took one person into custody.
That person was loaded into a CBP vehicle and taken away from the scene.
According to CBP, agents made three arrests when they tried to stop a car registered to someone in the country illegally.
Authorities said those three people were not in the United States legally.
Authorities have not confirmed whether that individual is among those arrested.
