MIAMI — Miami police arrested a 24-year-old woman on Wednesday in connection with multiple retail thefts at Target stores across the county.
A Miami Police Department detective said he was working an off-duty assignment at the Target on Northwest Sixth Street in Overtown on Wednesday when Sariel Blandon and an accomplice, Kevin Alexandre Espinoza, were observed attempting to steal merchandise at several Target locations, including Kendall and downtown Miami.
Police said surveillance video showed the pair removing security devices from items and concealing merchandise inside Blandon’s purse.
Officers apprehended the pair outside the downtown Miami store, recovering multiple Nintendo controllers and power devices valued at $278.16, according to the report.
The report stated that the duo had committed several thefts at other Targets in Miami, including Cutler Ridge, Bird Road, Hialeah, and Miami Lakes, with losses ranging from $74.99 to $350.96 per incident.
Additional surveillance confirmed Blandon and Espinoza’s involvement in all of the reported cases.
Police said Blandon’s vehicle, which was parked near the downtown Miami Target, contained additional suspected stolen items and was seized pending a search warrant.
Jail records show she is facing one count of retail theft in connection with multiple incidents within a 30-day period.
As of Thursday morning, Blandon was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where her bond was listed as “to be set.”
Although Espinoza was identified as an accomplice in Blandon’s arrest report, he did not appear in the Miami-Dade Corrections’ online inmate database at the time of publication.
