Deputies: Burglary suspect led chase, crashed in northwest Miami-Dade

Suspect in custody after Miami-Dade chase ends in crash, weapons found

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A burglary suspect accused of going on a joyride before deputies tried to pull him over faced a judge Friday morning, less than 24 hours after a chase that ended in a crash in northwest Miami-Dade.

Omarion Anderson, 22, appeared in bond court on a charge of fleeing and eluding a police officer. Court records show deputies attempted to stop a white BMW with dark tinted windows around 2 p.m. Thursday in Miami-Dade County.

Investigators said Anderson refused to stop, triggering a chase. During the pursuit, records say he struck a police vehicle and continued driving.

The chase ended several blocks later in a crash near Northwest 95th Street and 27th Avenue, causing a serious accident that shut down traffic.

Deputies said they found an AK-47-style rifle and a handgun inside the car Anderson was driving. Records also indicate the vehicle matches one used in two recent burglaries and is being investigated in connection with potential burglary and auto theft cases.

Police released two female passengers who were in the vehicle.

Anderson faces multiple charges, including fleeing police, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and driving with a suspended license.

He has posted bond but must still be fitted with an ankle monitor for house arrest.
