MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man and woman were killed in a rollover crash early Friday morning on the southbound lanes of U.S. 1 and Southwest 112th Street in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area at approximately midnight after receiving reports of a traffic crash.
MDSO said when deputies arrived, they found two vehicles involved.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced both drivers dead at the scene — a man in one vehicle and a woman in the other.
The ages and identities of both individuals were not immediately released.
Authorities also issued a traffic alert, stating that all lanes of U.S. 1 are closed from Southwest 112th Avenue to Southwest 200th Street/Caribbean Boulevard due to the crash.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
Authorities confirmed that MDSO’s traffic homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. No further information has been released.
