That handcuffed man was placed into the back of the vehicle and taken away.

He was one of three people U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents said they took into custody during the operation, all of which were in the country illegally, per the agency.

With a helicopter in the air and boots on the ground, the heavy law enforcement presence that included multiple agencies descended upon a stretch of the everglades Thursday to carry out what appeared to be an intense search.

Border Patrol agents were leading the activity off of US-27, just south of I-595.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office was there, saying they were only brought in to assist in the investigation.

Additionally, CBP confirmed that officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were also on hand to help out.

A heavy-duty vehicle from the Division of Forestry was also observed at the scene.

The situation unfolded after a traffic stop involving a car that officials said was illegally registered in the U.S.

In a statement received two days after the operation, CBP said:

“The Trump Administration is enforcing immigration laws—something the previous administration failed to do. Those who violate these laws will be processed, detained, and removed as required. If statutes or visa terms are violated, individuals may be subject to removal. Only those who respect our laws will be welcomed.”
