MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Three people were injured Monday morning during a shootout in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
A Local 10 News crew was in the area of Northwest 79th Street and 21st Avenue at about 6 a.m. after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies had blocked off an area stretching from the Regency Pointe Apartments to a Church’s Texas Chicken parking lot.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the area of Northwest 19th Avenue and 79th Street at about 4 a.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert and found three men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews then arrived and transported all three to a local hospital in stable condition.
According to deputies, a couple of men tried to rob a security guard and there was an exchange of gunfire, during which time the security guard and the alleged robbers were struck.
MDSO robbery detectives have assumed the investigation.
The identities of those involved in the shootout have not yet been released.
