BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — New details have been released following the arrests of two men in connection with a homicide that occurred earlier this month.
Deputies said Jayden Dejesus, 19, of Miami and Trevon Quinones, 19, of Forney, Texas, were taken into custody on Feb. 11 following a traffic stop in Kaufman County, Texas.
They were wanted for the murder of Hunter Howell, 22, who was found dead inside a vehicle on Sunday, Feb. 1.
According to BSO, deputies responding to the West Broward Boat Ramp located at 3451 N. U.S. 27 on the morning on Feb. 1 found a deceased man inside a vehicle, later identified as Howell.
Investigators were able to determine that Howell made a living selling marijuana, and that DeJesus and Quinones had driven Howell around while working due to Howell not having a vehicle of his own.
Additionally, deputies said all three were known to visit the boat ramp area, primarily on Sunday’s, “to listen to loud music from vehicles equipped with speakers.”
Detectives obtained a warrant for Dejesus’ phone records, which they said put him at the boat ramp area on the date before the victim was found.
Additionally, SunPass records helped detectives discover a photo of Dejesus and a passenger while going through a toll, and in the photo, deputies said the driver was wearing the same sweatshirt that was later found with the victim inside the vehicle at the boat ramp.
Authorities also said they used surveillance video from outside of Quinones’ apartment building, where he and Dejesus lived, showing them wearing clothes that matched some found inside the vehicle with the victim.
The documents don’t outline an alleged motive.
As of Wednesday, Dejesus remained behind bars at the Broward Main Jail on a $50,000 bond, while Quinones was not listed among Broward County inmates.
