According to FHP, a trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for reckless driving along Interstate 595. The vehicle initially slowed but then accelerated and fled westbound on I-595.

Authorities said the vehicle exited onto northbound State Road 441, where it crashed into another vehicle.

Sky 10 flew over the scene around 11:30 a.m., where skid marks and multiple law enforcement vehicles were visible on the roadway. The suspected vehicle, a white car, could also be seen overturned.

Investigators said the driver ran from the scene on foot while the passenger was detained by the trooper.

They said Broward Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search, with deputies and a K-9 unit canvassing the area for the driver.

Troopers later apprehended the driver, who authorities said had an active warrant for aggravated assault.

No injuries were reported to the other driver involved in the crash, and no other details about the suspect were immediately released.
