HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — Local 10 News exclusively obtained surveillance video on Friday showing the moments that police say a violent brawl broke out earlier this month inside Amsterdam Night Club in Hallandale Beach.
The fight happened on Feb. 12 at the nightclub, located at 100 S. Federal Highway.
The video shows the chaotic scene unfolding inside the club. Footage captures a large melee involving what police said was between 15 and 20 people.
The video shows people being placed in chokeholds, beer bottles and hookahs being thrown, and one man picking up what appears to be a bar stool and slamming it down.
At one point, a man who had been held in a chokehold is seen getting back to his feet as the chaos continues around him.
Hallandale Beach police responded while working an off-duty detail at the club and said they observed an “active physical altercation” upon arrival.
Officers deployed department-issued Tasers to stop one individual who was seen trying to violently strike another person who was on the ground. Police said the deployment was effective.
Audio from the scene captured the frantic response.
“Start fire rescue, we have lacerations. Relax, relax, relax,” one person is heard saying.
Moments later, another voice calls out: “We need rescue, heavy bleeding.”
At one point, a person can be heard screaming in pain as first responders worked to render aid.
According to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, four individuals were transported to area hospitals with various injuries. Police said officers rendered first aid to multiple people at the scene.
Investigators said one person fell on broken glass and suffered a cut. Another individual was transported for evaluation after falling during the disturbance and was later treated and released.
Several people involved in the fight fled before officers were able to establish control, authorities said.
Police said Kevin Cabrera-Sanchez, 23, and Iroel Mederos, 36, were arrested on charges of resisting arrest without violence and disorderly conduct.
They said one victim sustained a head injury earlier in the altercation but declined to cooperate with investigators and signed a waiver of prosecution.
The incident remains under investigation.
