SUNRISE, Fla. — The Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department is mourning the loss of one of its officers.
In a statement to Local 10 News on Saturday morning, MDCR Director Sherea Green confirmed “the passing of Officer Justin Bozeman, who was involved in a fatal off-duty motorcycle accident overnight.”
“Our hearts are with Officer Bozeman’s family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences and ask that their privacy be respected as they grieve this tremendous loss,” the statement read.

According to the Sunrise Police Department, at approximately 10:09 p.m., officers responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a motorcyclist in the 2400 block of University Drive. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries.
Sunrise police said the incident remains under investigation and that they cannot confirm the identities of those involved.
Green said SPD is conducting a full investigation into the incident.
“At this time, no additional information is available. We will continue to keep Officer Bozeman’s loved ones lifted in our thoughts and prayers,” she said.
MDCR officials confirmed that Bozeman was also part of the agency’s Honor Guard.
No other details about the crash were immediately released.
