MIAMI — Get ready to leap into Pixar and Disney’s next big adventure with “Hoppers.”
In this wild animated ride, a young girl goes to great lengths to save the animals and their habitat in her town, and she does it in a way that is purely Sci-Fi.
Rising star Piper Curda plays Mabel, a 19-year-old high energy animal lover who transfers her consciousness into a robotic beaver to communicate with wildlife in hopes of saving them and their home.
“I think that was what’s important in terms of the character is the fact that Mabel doesn’t know how to be a beaver, so she’s not going to get into the body of a beaver and all of a sudden be different and be a beaver,” said Curda. “She’s just going to be Mabel, but in a robot beaver, you know what I mean?”
Comedian Bobby Moynihan brings his brand of slapstick comedy as the Beaver King, a role he said he couldn’t resist.
“I mean, it’s King George,” said Moynihan. “He’s an adorable little man. He’s a little short king. You gotta love him. You want to live here? You better learn. Pond rules are pond rules.”
Local 10’s Jason Carter headed on down to Miami where he caught up with the two stars of the film, and his full report can be seen at the top of this page.
