KENDALL, Fla. — A 24-year-old man was arrested Saturday in connection with a road rage shooting in Kendall, authorities confirmed.
According to an arrest report from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the shooting was reported shortly after noon in the 13300 block of Southwest 88th Street.
Deputies said the victim claimed that he was driving west on Kendall Drive, just west of Southwest 127th Avenue when the suspect, identified by police as Raul Alejandro Fontaine, drove on his right side in a black Jeep Gladiator, went up on the sidewalk and yelled at the victim, “You don’t know who I am! Get out of the car, I’ll beat your a**!”
According to the report, the victim told police that he continued driving and once he got to Southwest 132nd Avenue, Fontaine pulled up on the left side of his vehicle and began to yell at the victim, “I’m going to f***ing shoot you!”
Deputies said Fontaine fired at the victim from inside his vehicle, nearly striking him.
According to the report, the victim, who was stopped in traffic, got out of his vehicle, retrieved the bullet, which was on the roadway next to the driver-side door and then re-entered his car before following the suspect.
Deputies said the victim took down Fontaine’s vehicle’s license plate number and then drove to the Hammocks District Station to report the shooting.
Authorities said Fontaine was located outside a home at about 1:45 p.m. and was taken into custody.
According to the report, he confessed to being involved in a road rage incident and said he fired his gun at a wall in an attempt to scare the victim.
Fontaine was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and unlawful discharge of a firearm in public.
As of Monday afternoon, Fontaine was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
