HIALEAH — Local 10 News exclusively obtained video Monday showing the aftermath of a Hialeah police officer shooting a driver following a pursuit of a stolen vehicle on May 28, 2024.

Video shows first responders rushing to the scene to aid the suspect.

Police said the suspect, 39-year-old Lester J. Ramirez Rodriguez, was hospitalized after being shot in the wrist and shoulder. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening, and he was treated at Jackson Memorial Hospital before being taken into custody.

Lt. Eddie Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the Hialeah Police Department, said officers attempted a felony traffic stop near West 12th Avenue and West 29th Street around 9:15 p.m. after spotting a vehicle reported stolen out of Sweetwater.

Authorities previously said Ramirez Rodriguez has a lengthy criminal history, including multiple traffic convictions and grand theft charges.

Jail records show he is facing one count each of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and grand theft. He remains held without bond at the Metrowest Detention Center.
