MIAMI — A man is facing a felony charge after Miami police accused him of exposing himself to a 14-year-old girl on a county bus in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood on Thursday.
Carlos Manuel Rivera Sanchez, 60, of Homestead, seemingly tried to blame the whole thing on his prostate, according to an arrest report from the Miami Police Department.
Authorities said the incident ― which the victim recorded ― happened at around 8 a.m. as the bus was near Southwest Eighth Street and 24th Court.
According to police, the girl was headed to school when Rivera Sanchez “began touching himself inappropriately for approximately (five) minutes and proceeded to roll his pants up and exposed his penis.”
“When the bus approached her desired bus stop, she noticed (he) was getting off the same stop as her,“ the MPD report states. ”Prior to getting off (the) bus, the victim told the driver what happened and showed him the video that she recorded.”
The driver then flagged down a police officer, who showed officers the video and provided a description of Rivera Sanchez, police said.
According to police, officers were able to speak with Rivera Sanchez at around noon.
The report states that he told investigators that he was in Miami to have surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital and said “a schoolgirl, a man and a lady sat near him on the bus.”
“At some point, he stated that he felt a lot of pain because he had a prostate problem,” the report states. “He said he was holding his pelvic area because of the pain and he told the bus driver that he had to pee.”
Police said a detective showed Rivera Sanchez the video and he initially denied inappropriately touching and exposing himself.
“However, he identified his penis when I paused the video where he had it exposed,” the detective wrote.
Police arrested Rivera Sanchez on charges of lewd and lascivious exhibition on a child under 16 and indecent exposure.
Records show he was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on an $8,000 bond.
