A Southwest spokesperson said customers were reaccommodated on another aircraft with the same flight number and continued on to Fort Lauderdale, arriving just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

“We appreciate the professionalism of our flight crew and sincerely apologize to our customers for the significant delay,” the spokesperson wrote. “Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of its customers and employees.”

Video obtained from TikTok user The Fellas captured the tense moments inside the cabin as crew members prepared to divert the flight and told travelers to keep their hands visible.

Additional video showed authorities with K-9s searching the area around the plane.

Officials have not released details about the alleged threat, but the airline said the diversion was carried out as a precaution.

Atlanta police assisted federal partners during the incident.

Authorities have referred questions about the situation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Homeland Security.

No other details were immediately released.
