Video captures hit-and-run involving Amazon driver making delivery

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Surveillance video captured the moments an Amazon driver stepped out of her delivery truck and right into the path of danger.

Packages were flung into the hair as the driver was hit by a car that did not stop.

It happened Wednesday along Southwest 20th Street and 140th Place in west Miami-Dade County.

Witness Stephanie Garcia said she caught the aftermath of the hit-and-run.

“I was on the way from work and I see the package in the middle of the street broken, her hat in the other side and her laying on the ground not able to move,” said Garcia. “She was just moving her hands, I guess just texting her boss or her family.”

It’s an area that residents say is problematic at times in terms of people speeding.

“We actually told them to put speed bumps, but they haven’t done anything about it,” Garcia said.

On the same route, another pair of Amazon workers were seen back delivering packages Monday, even stopping in the same exact spot as their colleague who was injured on the job just days ago.

Police are actively searching for the driver who took off.

Amazon released a statement to Local 10 News which read:

“We’re relieved the driver is okay and recovering at home while receiving care. We’re cooperating with local law enforcement as they investigate. The delivery service partner that employs the driver remains in close contact and is providing support.”
