Man accused of stabbing dog in Fort Lauderdale, threatening to stab owner

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A man was arrested last week after he allegedly stabbed a dog that was in the backyard of its own home in Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

According to an arrest report from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Michael Anderson, 42, of Fort Lauderdale, was arrested last Friday on multiple charges.

Police said Anderson entered the backyard of a home and stabbed a man’s dog two times.

The victim told police that during the altercation with Anderson, he threatened to also stab the victim.

Anderson was detained at the scene and admitted to entering the victim’s property and stabbing his dog, police said.

Anderson faces charges of animal torture causing cruel death, pain or suffering and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A motive for the attack remains unclear.

As of Tuesday morning, Anderson was being held at the Broward County Main Jail on a $30,000 bond.
