MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Three suspects were arrested Wednesday in Miami-Dade County following a home invasion that authorities say began with a dating app meeting.
Authorities said Dacorey Quartez Banks, 18, of Decatur, Georgia, Erica Leonaria Currey, 26, of Snellville, Georgia, and Keyon Cas Hippolyte were taken into custody by deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office in the 21000 block of Southwest 99th Avenue in Cutler Bay.
The crime occurred on March 5 when deputies said the victim communicated with Currey through a dating website or application.
After talking online, they said the two agreed to meet in person at the victim’s apartment.
After Currey arrived and entered the home, the victim heard someone trying to open the door. When he checked and locked the deadbolt, he continued speaking with Currey, according to the report.
Shortly after, Currey reportedly unlocked the door and allowed two masked men, who deputies identified as Banks and Hippolyte, to enter the apartment.
Investigators said Banks was armed with a handgun, while Hippolyte carried a rifle.
The report states that both men ordered the victim to the ground and struck him in the head while demanding money.
Deputies said Currey allegedly took approximately $200 from the victim’s wallet, while Banks searched the home.
They said the suspects then instructed the victim to remain on the ground and “count to 100″ before looking up, then fled in a gray sedan.
Deputies on Tuesday said they located the suspects driving a gray Hyundai Elantra and arrested them.
Jail records show Banks and Currey are each facing one count of robbery home invasion with a firearm. As of Wednesday, both suspects were being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
The charge or charges and bond information for Hippolyte weren’t immediately released.
