Broward Sheriff’s Office investigators said Saul Vargas, 49, was arrested after he showed up at the Las Mercedes Medical Center at 6674 NW 57th St. in Tamarac.

Deputies said he made the threats to a worker at the Las Mercedes call center in Virginia Gardens. According to an arrest report, the threats were all captured in a recording lasting 4 minutes, 36 seconds.

According to the report, Vargas said he was “very frustrated“ about failed attempts to get the records and things then escalated.

Deputies said he then told the person on the other line, “I want to excuse myself before I release a hound of demons on you. I don’t want this to happen, the same thing that happened last time. I’m trying my best to (be) patient with your organization but I’m about to go over there and blow up the place. I need a copy of my mother’s medical records.”

“If I get into any issues, I’m liable to shoot this place up,” he later said, according to the report.

A Tamarac clinic worker called BSO after Vargas showed up and sat in the front lobby just before noon on Wednesday, deputies said.

Deputies arrested him on a charge of making a threat to discharge a destructive device. They said he also admitted to owning guns.

As of Thursday afternoon, Vargas was being held in the BSO Main Jail on a $25,000 bond.
