MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man walked into a southwest Miami-Dade shoe store Wednesday morning and asked to buy a pair, deputies said. But instead of making a purchase, he’s accused of committing a disgusting act upon a “frail” 88-year-old woman working there.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. at G&L Shoes, located at 7018 SW 87th Ave. in the unincorporated Sunset area.

Deputies said after Ronny Jose Villarreal, a 29-year-old homeless man, asked to see the footwear, the octogenarian worker handed him the pair and went behind the counter to complete the purchase.

“At this moment, (Villarreal) bypassed the register and cornered the victim, thus not allowing her any exit or escape,” an MDSO report stated. “(He) proceeded to pull his pants down and expose his penis and testicals (sic). The victim then advised (Villarreal) she was going to call 911 and requested he allow her to leave the premises, to which he physically would not allow by using his nude body (from the waist down) as a barrier.”

Deputies said Villarreal “then used his hands to point and gesture the victim into the backroom” and “continued to sexually gesture and force the victim through fear/intimidation into the backroom to which she refused.”

According to the report, he “then took a swig of alcohol from a vodka bottle,” left the bottle on the counter and left.

The victim was able to provide a description of the “very dirty” Villarreal, deputies said. Additionally, they said he bought the booze at a liquor store next door and the victim identified him through surveillance video obtained there.

Deputies later found him at Southwest 87th Avenue and 72nd Street and he was immediately taken into custody on charges of false imprisonment, indecent exposure and lewd and lascivious behavior.

As of Thursday morning, Villarreal was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a bond listed in online jail records as “to be set.”
