Crowds pack Miracle Mile for annual St. Patrick’s Street Festival in Coral Gables

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Crowds packed Miracle Mile on Saturday for a Coral Gables tradition -- the annual John Martin’s St. Patrick’s Street Festival.

The celebration, now in its 33rd year, takes place the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day and brings thousands of people together to celebrate Irish culture with live music, food, drinks and plenty of green.

Festivalgoers filled the street throughout the evening, enjoying live bands, entertainment and, of course, plenty of Guinness.

“Oh my god, the festival has been so much fun, everyone seems to be having an amazing time,” one attendee said.

One festivalgoer named Will may have taken the crown for outfit of the day.

“So I have my kilt going on, I got my suspenders going on, and my beard. This is my natural beard, so I’m feeling good today out here,” Will said.

Others said the event is simply a chance to unwind and celebrate together.

“This is one of those things we all get together for and we enjoy a Guinness and we party,” another attendee said. “It’s just one of those things we get to relax and have fun.”

The festivities are scheduled to wrap up at midnight.
