Police said he then defaced the emblem on the property, causing $3,000 worth of damage.

The incident happened March 6 at the Oleeta West Dade Masonic Lodge, located at 145 S. Royal Poinciana Blvd.

Police confirmed that a good Samaritan helped detectives identify Guanche as the man in the video.

He was taken into custody Friday on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief.

“This is another reminder that Miami Springs is a community that looks out for one another. When we work together, we keep our city safe. If you see something, say something,” MPD said in a statement on social media.

As of Saturday morning, Guanche remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Online jail records listed his bond as “to be set.”
