Calle Ocho festival set to take over Little Havana

Annual Calle Ocho festival set to kick off in Little Havana

MIAMI — Several streets in Little Havana will be blocked off on Sunday for the Calle Ocho festival.

From the music to the food and the South Florida crowds, the festival highlights the diversity of our Latin community.

“You’ve got the music, weather, culture, all Latin American countries here together as one,” said James Villalobos.

That culture will be on full display, stretched out across 15 blocks of Little Havana.

From merchandise, to drinks and of course, delicious food, the event draws in crowds from near and far.

Nearly 50 years ago, the Kiwanis Club launched the street party as a fundraiser, which has now blossomed into what it is today.

The festival takes place in along Southwest Eighth Street, from 12th Avenue to 27th Avenue.

Organizers expect more than half a million people to attend.
