MIAMI — A moped rider was seriously hurt Monday afternoon after crashing into the side of a Miami liquor store, first responders said.

The crash happened at around 3 p.m. outside 3 Fingers Liquor & Lounge, located at 4368 NW 17th Ave. in the Liberty City neighborhood.

According to Miami Fire Rescue, medics took the 52-year-old man, who suffered a “severe head injury,” to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

Fire officials said he was in critical condition as of around 3:30 p.m.

Police shut down Northwest 17th Avenue in both directions near the crash scene as they investigated.
