FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Friday marks another busy day of travel at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
At times, a Local 10 crew there saw hundreds of people waiting at ticketing counters and waiting to go through TSA.
Outside the airport, long lines of vehicles could be seen near both the arrival and departure areas.
Airports around the country are warning travelers that they could see worsening airport wait times Friday as the partial government shutdown drags on and TSA workers go without pay.
Workers recently missed their first full paycheck.
Local 10 talked with travelers who got off a cruise and came to FLL around six hours early.
They said they can’t get on their flights yet, but they’re ready to be home.
“Clutter, tons of people, thousands of people. Everyone is getting impatient, waiting,” Quentin Russo said.
“When I finally get home, I’m probably just going to lay in my bed, relax,” Kameron Brooks said. “I don’t want anyone to disturb me.”
Officials at Miami International Airport are urging people to arrive three hours before their flights as spring break hits during this partial government shutdown.
