MIAMI — At the University of Miami Frost School of Music, Dean Shelton “Shelly” Berg is preparing to step down, closing out a tenure that spans nearly 20 years.
Friends, family, colleagues and alumni gathered Saturday night to honor Berg’s impact on the program and its students.
Throughout his career, Berg earned a Grammy nomination and collaborated with major artists, including longtime friends Gloria Estefan and Emilio Estefan.
Alumni, including Broadway performers, credited Berg with shaping their careers and strengthening music education at the university.
Supporters say his legacy will continue through the generations of musicians he helped guide.
