3 injured in Fort Lauderdale crash; 1 in critical condition

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Two of the three people injured in a violent crash in Fort Lauderdale remain hospitalized at Broward Health Medical Center, including one in critical condition.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Wednesday at Broward Boulevard and Seventh Avenue, leaving debris scattered across the road.

Surveillance video shows a white BMW and a black Audi colliding at the intersection. The impact sent the BMW spinning into a fire truck stopped at a red light.

“Whoever did that needs to be locked up for life,” said witness John Smith Jr.

Firefighters immediately jumped into action, pulling the BMW driver from the wreckage and giving them whole blood before rushing them to the hospital. The two people in the Audi were also transported.

“There’s no doubt the ability for the crews to immediately jump into action, immediately begin that extrication, and render that care contributed to the life saving of that individual in that car.” said Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Chief Stephen Gollan.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the crash and who was at fault. The identities of those involved have not been released.
