Eddie Antonio Muniz, 41, of Doral, was arrested Thursday at Identity Miami, a Sweetwater apartment complex at 400 SW 107th Ave., where authorities say he arranged a meeting with an undercover detective as part of a narcotics investigation.

The report states that the FIU Police Department was the arresting agency as part of a multi-agency task force.

Investigators said an undercover asset made “multiple controlled purchases of narcotics” from Muniz on separate dates. Those transactions allegedly included molly capsules that later tested positive for fentanyl.

The report states that several of the transactions occurred within 1,000 feet of Sweetwater Elementary School and another took place near FIU’s main campus.

In one March 3 transaction, police said Muniz sold about 1.5 grams of molly in capsule form for $100.

On March 12, they said he sold about three grams of molly in capsules for $250, which tested positive for fentanyl.

On March 19, investigators confirmed that Muniz sold molly and cocaine for $500, with the molly again testing positive for fentanyl.

On Thursday, investigators said Muniz sold approximately 30.5 grams of molly in capsule form for $1,000. He was taken into custody following that transaction.

They said a search warrant executed at Muniz’s home in Doral led to the seizure of a semiautomatic handgun. Police also recovered about 15 grams of molly at the home.

The report states that Muniz did not have a concealed weapons permit.

Jail records show he is now facing serious charges, including trafficking fentanyl and MDMA, armed trafficking, and selling controlled substances within 1,000 feet of a school.

Police said was transported for questioning but declined to speak with investigators after being read his Miranda rights.

An FIU spokesperson referred Local 10 to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, but did not respond to a request for comment. The FDLE has not responded to requests for additional information nor an invitation to discuss the arrest.

As of Friday morning, Munoz was being held on a $21,500 bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
