Lt. Eddie Rodriguez, a HPD spokesman, said officers responded in “emergency mode” to the 600 block of West 15th Street, where they found an unresponsive man lying on the ground with injuries.

Rodriguez said Hialeah Fire Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

He said detectives remained at the scene Saturday morning, processing evidence as the investigation continues.

Baro Gonzalez, who works in the area, said he heard from locals about the shooting.

“When we come in this morning, people say someone is dead. Last night about 10-10:30. They were shot,” he said.

Neighbors say this kind of activity is unusual for the area, and that most people who live in the area keep to themselves.

Authorities said no additional details about the victim’s identity or the circumstances of the incident are available at this time.

Anyone with information is urged to call the HPD at 305-687-2525 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
