Loved ones mourn death of man killed in Fort Lauderdale fatal crash

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — An intense crash was caught on surveillance cameras along Broward Boulevard and Northwest Seventh Avenue in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday.

A black Audi smashed into a white BMW, sending it spinning and crashing into a Fort Lauderdale firetruck.

The driver of the BMW, identified as 33-year-old Kristopher David, died in the crash.

Fort Lauderdale police say it is a possible criminal incident, but so far, no charges have been filed.

Loretta David, Kristopher’s mother, wants crash investigators to hold someone accountable.

“They took away my only son,” she said. “I want the people to know that they took a loving, caring and kind person from this world. My life will never be the same again. He told me he would never leave me.”

David leaves behind two daughters and a fiancée.

She told us she planned to marry her best friend in the fall.

“The absolute love of my life,” said Unique Willingham. “Now my life feels stuck, like I’m having a nightmare and I can’t wake up from it.”

The David family told said they’ve only talked to the medical team about their son, but no one from Fort Lauderdale police has reached out.

They want to know what investigators believe caused the crash and whether they plan to file charges.
